Gin Basil Smash

What makes a smash, a smash? I like to think of a smash-style cocktail as the less fussy, more forgiving variation of a julep. It’s pretty open-ended and variable, as long as you include herbs, fruit, sugar, and some sort of base spirit.

It wasn’t until the late 1950s that it became extremely popular in Hawaii as the “top tourist tantalizer.”
