BAR TOOLS

here are some of the tools that I recommended when building your home bar!
this set of tools will set you up for ultimate success.

mixing glass

for stirred cocktails: negroni, martini, old fashioned,
manhattan, etc.

use a mixing glass when your cocktail contains only spirits.

boston shaker

(what I prefer!)

for shaken cocktails: margarita, last word, espresso martini, whiskey sour, etc.

use a cocktail shaker when your cocktail contains citrus, egg white, cream, etc.

cobbler shaker

for shaken cocktails: margarita, last word, espresso martini, whiskey sour, etc.

use a cocktail shaker when your cocktail contains citrus, egg white, cream, etc.

jigger

this particular kind of jigger
is japanese style.

it measures at 2 oz on the larger side
(1½ oz measured lines on the inside),
and 1 oz on the smaller side
(½ and ¾ measured lines on the inside).

julep strainer

this is used to strain the contents out of a cocktail mixing glass.

its primary function is to remove the ice from the contents of the cocktail mixing glass.

hawthorne strainer

this is used to strain the contents out of a boston cocktail shaker.

its primary function is to remove the ice from the contents in the cocktail shaker.

fine mesh strainer

this is typically used in addition to using hawthorne strainer.

it’s primary function is to remove ice bits, citrus bits, or other pulp from the contents of a cocktail shaker (usually for drinks served ‘up’ in a stemmed glass).

bar spoon

this is a multi-use tool.

it’s primarily used for stirring cocktails in a mixing glass, but it can also be used to swizzle, or pour carbonated liquids to reduce the amount of fizz.

citrus juicer

you must squeeze your own citrus. please do not buy your lime juice in a plastic squeeze bottle…

you use this buy placing the
fruit cut-side down.

citrus peeler

this is used to peel strips of citrus zest.

you usually see this in an old fashioned, a negroni, a martini, etc.

cocktail picks

reusable cocktail picks are ideal.

they are perfect for garnishing your
martini with an olive,
or your last word with a cherry.

CLEAR ICE

the tool I use to make clear ice is the Wintersmiths Phantom Ice Maker.
it combines 2 techniques:
directional freezing and
slowing down the freezing process.

the result is perfectly clear ice that will take your cocktail to the next level.
plus, it melts slower.

here’s another affordable option.
