Spicy Mandarin Sidecar

GLASSWARE: THRIFTED COUPE GLASS

We don’t talk about brandy neeaarly enough so let’s bring it in with a fresh and spicy (you know I had to make it spicy!) twist on a classic Sidecar. This expression of St-Rémy is balanced on the palate, with woody notes that are enriched with honey, nut, and butter flavors. The tart citrus from the mandarin and lemon round it out beautifully 🙌

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz brandy

  • ½ oz triple sec

  • ½ oz simple syrup

  • ¾ oz mandarin juice

  • ¼ oz lemon juice

  • 6-8 drops spicy bitters

  • garnish: habanero sugar rim

Directions:

  1. Rim a coupe glass with habanero sugar and place in the freezer while you build your cocktail. I’m using an agave syrup for the sugar to adhere to, but you can also use the juice of a lemon or mandarin.

  2. Add simple syrup, lemon juice, mandarin juice, spicy bitters, triple sec, and brandy into a cocktail shaker with a generous amount of ice and shake until chilled.

  3. Double strain into your chilled coupe glass.
