Butterfinger Old Fashioned

Nothing better than combining the nostalgia of your favorite Halloween candy and favorite adult beverage! This old fashioned literally tastes exactly like a Butterfinger 😮‍💨

Ingredients:

  • ¾ oz toasted peanut simple syrup

  • 2½ oz Butterfinger fat-washed Cocoa Bomb Chocolate Whiskey

  • 4-6 dashes chocolate bitters

  • 3 dashes orange bitters

  • garnish: grated butterfinger rim

Directions:

  1. To make the fat-washed whiskey, chop up 4 fun-size Butterfingers and melt them in a non-stick sauce pan. Once sticky, turn off the heat, allow to cool slightly, and pour in 2 cups of the Cocoa Bomb. Pour entire contents into a large jar or bowl (with lid), seal, and allow it to sit in the freezer overnight.

  2. The next day, strain the whiskey through a sieve lined with a damp coffee filter (this may take a while, but getting a somewhat clarified result is worth it!).

  3. To make the toasted peanut syrup, toast about ¾ cup of unsalted peanuts on medium heat until aromatic. Add 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water and allow sugar to dissolve. Remove from heat and chill completely before straining out the peanuts and storing in the refrigerator.

  4. Time to build the cocktail! Add toasted peanut syrup, fat-washed whiskey, and bitters into a cocktail mixing glass along with ice and stir for at least thirty seconds. Strain into a rocks glass (garnished with grated Butterfinger) over a large cube.
