Blackberry Limoncello Spritz

What I love about a spritz is that you can be relatively experimental with the ingredients that you use — when I worked at the bar, I was trained to use this formula: 1½ ounces of your base (the liqueur you’re using, in this case we’re using limoncello but you can also use the infamous Aperol, Montenegro, Italicus, etc.), 3 ounces of sparkling wine, and 1 ounce of sparkling water. From there, you can add herbs or fruits!

Spritz are a part of the apéritifs family, which were designed to be served before a meal to stimulate the appetite. They're typically lightly alcoholic and more dry than sweet.

Ingredients:

  • 3 blackberries

  • 1½ oz limoncello

  • 3 oz sparkling wine

  • 1 oz sparkling water

  • garnish: lemon wheels and a blackberry

Directions:

Add blackberries and limoncello to a wine glass and muddle gently. Fill with ice and add a few lemon wheels, then add sparkling wine and sparkling water. Garnish with a blackberry.
