Mojito

Ah, the classic Mojito. You know her, you love her, you probably have ordered a few sub-par ones in your lifetime. In my opinion, the most important ingredients for a really good Mojito is simple: fresh lime juice and fresh mint. You can use all the cheap white rum your heart desires (although I can’t promise a hangover-free outcome).

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 lime wedges

  • ½ oz simple syrup

  • 8 mint leaves, plus more for garnish

  • 2 oz white rum

  • sparkling water

  • garnish: lime wheel + mint sprig

Directions:

Combine lime wedges and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker and muddle. Add mint leaves, white rum, and shake shake vigorously with ice for approximately thirty seconds, until chilled and the mint leaves have broken up. Strain over fresh ice in a tall glass. Garnish with a lime wheel and a mint sprig.

*Hint: Give the mint a little smack before placing it in the drink, before shaking and to garnish. This will release the oils from the mint and provide more of an aromatic experience.
