Last Word

I have such a love for prohibition-era cocktails, especially the infamous Last Word. This cocktail was invented by Frank Fogarty, a few years prior to the start of prohibition, approximately in 1915. There are many creative variations of the classic cocktail today, including the Paper Plane, or the Naked & Famous.

Ingredients:

  • ¾ oz lime juice

  • ¾ oz green chartreuse

  • ¾ oz luxardo maraschino

  • ¾ oz gin

  • garnish: brandied cherry

Directions:

In a cocktail shaker, combine lime juice, green chartreuse, luxardo maraschino, and gin. Add ice and shake vigorously until chilled. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with a single brandied cherry.
