Italian's Christmas Eve

I’m a lover of tradition, which shines bright this time of year. To me, the holidays wouldn’t be whole without Limoncello! In my family, limoncello transcends the common tradition of after-dinner digestif, and instead, it is a staple in our favorite festive cocktails. This year, I made a wonderfully bright, slightly sweet cocktail with Pallini Limoncello to sip on while we enjoy our holiday meal.

Ingredients:

  • ½ oz star anise syrup

  • ½ oz lemon juice

  • ¼ oz amaretto

  • 1½ oz vodka

  • 1 egg white

  • 1 oz limoncello

Directions:

In a cocktail shaker, combine star anise syrup, lemon juice, amaretto, vodka, egg white, and Pallini Limoncello. Shake vigorously for thirty seconds to form a frothy head. Add ice and shake again. Strain into your favorite coupe glass and garnish with a single star anise pod.

STAR ANISE SYRUP

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup white sugar

  • ½ cup water

  • 3-4 star anise pods

Directions:

Combine ½ cup white sugar and ½ cup water with 3 star anise pods. Let simmer for approximately 15 minutes, and steep for up to an hour to let anise flavor deepen. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks.
