Cinnamon Walnut Gin Sour

I’m always looking for an excuse to either make a cocktail with egg whites or use these black walnut bitters from Fee Brothers. This sour recipe can go really nicely with either gin or bourbon, so don’t be afraid to experiment!

Ingredients:

  • ½ oz cinnamon brown sugar syrup

  • 3 dashes black walnut bitters

  • sprinkle of ground cinnamon

  • 1 oz lemon juice

  • 2 oz gin (would also work well with whiskey!)

  • 1 egg white

  • garnish: ground cinnamon, lemon slice

Directions:

In a cocktail shaker, add syrup, bitters, ground cinnamon, lemon juice, gin, and egg white. Shake vigorously to create a frothy head. Add ice, and shake again. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with another sprinkle of ground cinnamon and a lemon slice.

CINNAMON BROWN SUGAR SYRUP

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup light brown sugar

  • ½ cup water

  • 2-3 cinnamon sticks

Directions:

In a small sauce pot, combine sugar, water, and cinnamon sticks. Bring pot to medium heat to reach a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it sit for about ten to fifteen minutes. Once cooled, strain out the cinnamon sticks and store in a mason jar in the refrigerator for approximately two to three weeks.
